A phone line that lives in your browser.

callmins lets you call any landline or mobile from a web browser, pay per minute from a prepaid wallet, and rent a second phone number in the UK (+44), the US (+1) or Canada (+1). It is built for people who live, work or study away from home and need to stay reachable on a number from somewhere else, and for anyone who wants a second line without a second SIM.

How a call works

When you press call, your browser sends the audio over WebRTC, the same technology video-call sites use, to a media server we run. That server hands the call to our carrier, Telnyx, over a SIP trunk, and Telnyx connects it to the phone network in the country you are calling. Calls to your callmins number come back the same way and ring in your browser or in the callmins app for iPhone, Android or Mac. You can use either: the browser needs nothing installed.

Where the numbers come from

Every callmins number is an ordinary phone number issued by Telnyx, a licensed carrier, not a shared number from a public website. It belongs to your account for as long as you keep paying its monthly rent. US and Canadian numbers work as soon as you buy them. UK numbers are activated by Telnyx shortly after purchase, usually within minutes. None of them needs an ID check.

How we price

• Numbers: UK $3.00/month, no setup fee, US $2.00/month, no setup fee, Canada $2.00/month, no setup fee. Pay yearly and two months are free: UK $30.00, US $20.00 and Canada $20.00 a year.
• Calls and texts are pay-as-you-go from your wallet, priced per minute or per message by destination. They need no subscription. The full list is on the rates page and the SMS page.
• You top up by card through Stripe and see the price before you buy anything.

What callmins can't do

We would rather you know this before you pay:

• No emergency calls.callmins can't call 911, 999, 112 or any other emergency number. Keep a mobile or landline for that.
• App sign-up codes depend on the country.Our UK numbers receive WhatsApp codes. Our US numbers don't receive WhatsApp codes, and Telegram doesn't send codes to any of our numbers. We haven't confirmed app codes on Canadian numbers yet.
• Some services refuse internet numbers.A few banks and payment apps won't send codes to any virtual number, from any provider. Test the service you care about before relying on the number for it.
