Should I get a UK or a US number for WhatsApp and Telegram?
For WhatsApp, a UK number: callmins UK numbers receive WhatsApp codes, and our US numbers don't. For Telegram, neither: Telegram blocks its codes to virtual numbers, ours included. A UK number is $3.00/month against $2.00 for a US one. Choose a US number only for US calls and ordinary texts.
Does a UK virtual number work for Telegram?
No. Since 5 November 2026 Telegram blocks its codes to callmins UK numbers: the text arrives as "This message was blocked. Verification codes from messaging platforms are not supported on VoIP numbers due to fraud prevention." Our US and Canadian numbers don't get Telegram codes either. WhatsApp codes still arrive on our UK numbers.
