   Choose the UK, the US or Canada. Each country lists its monthly rental price, with no setup fee. None needs an ID check: US and Canadian numbers are instant, and UK numbers are activated by our carrier (Telnyx) shortly after you buy, usually within minutes.

   Top up your wallet

   Pay by card through Stripe (Apple Pay and Google Pay work where supported). Minimum top-up is $5. The first month's rental is debited on activation; subsequent months renew automatically until you cancel.

   Use the number in your browser

   Calls and SMS are handled in-browser. You can also point the number at another phone for call forwarding, or use the dialer to make outbound calls at near-wholesale per-minute rates.

What is a virtual phone number?

A virtual phone number is an active local phone number that lives in software instead of on a SIM card. It can receive calls, voicemails, and SMS directly in your web browser. UK numbers also receive sign-up codes from apps like WhatsApp; US numbers don't. The number is dialable from anywhere in the world, but it carries the country code of the country where it was provisioned.

How much does a virtual phone number cost on callmins?

A US number is $2.00/month, no setup fee, and a UK number $3.00/month, no setup fee. There's no setup fee; the rent renews monthly from your wallet. Outbound calling is pay-per-minute from your wallet, on top of the monthly rental.

Do I need to install an app?

No. callmins runs entirely in the browser using WebRTC. Sign up, top up your wallet, and dial. A progressive web app (PWA) is available for users who want a desktop quick-launch icon, but it's optional.

Can I receive WhatsApp, Telegram, or banking verification codes?

WhatsApp, yes, on a UK number: the codes arrive like any other text. US numbers don't receive WhatsApp codes, so pick a UK number for app sign-ups. Telegram, no: it blocks its codes to virtual numbers, ours included. A handful of services, including some banks, block internet-based numbers, which is true of every virtual-number provider; check before you rely on one for a bank account.

Is the number really mine?

Yes — the number is yours for as long as you keep the monthly rental active. After you cancel, releasing it back to the carrier can take up to 30 days, depending on customer support.

How is this different from Google Voice or Skype?

Google Voice only works for users with a US Google account and a US bank address. Skype was retired by Microsoft in 2025. callmins is browser-based like Skype was, works anywhere in the world like Google Voice doesn't, and sells virtual numbers in the UK, the US and Canada.
