Questions people ask
Can I use a virtual number for Telegram?

Since 5 November 2026 its text to our UK numbers arrives as "This message was blocked. Verification codes from messaging platforms are not supported on VoIP numbers due to fraud prevention." Why not use a free number from a website for Telegram?
Free receive-SMS sites show every number and its texts to anyone who visits, so anyone can read your Telegram code and take over the account later. Apps also block those shared numbers quickly. A callmins number is rented to you alone.
What happens if I stop paying for the number?
The number is released when its paid month ends if it isn't renewed, and may later go to someone else, who could then receive your Telegram codes. Keep the number for as long as you use the account, or move Telegram to another number first.
Does Telegram need a phone number?
Yes. Telegram accounts are registered to a phone number, verified with a login code sent by SMS (or to an existing Telegram session).
Why doesn't a UK or US or Canadian number work for Telegram?
Telegram blocks its codes to virtual (VoIP) numbers, ours included. Since 5 November 2026 its text to our UK numbers arrives as "This message was blocked. Verification codes from messaging platforms are not supported on VoIP numbers due to fraud prevention." For WhatsApp, a callmins UK (+44) number still receives the codes.
What does Telegram's blocked message mean?
Telegram's text to a callmins number arrives as "This message was blocked. Verification codes from messaging platforms are not supported on VoIP numbers due to fraud prevention." It means Telegram won't send a login code to that number. Buying another callmins number won't help: Telegram treats all of them the same way.
Which apps can I use a callmins number for instead?
WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business: a callmins UK (+44) number receives their codes. Our US numbers don't receive WhatsApp codes.
