Is there a free temporary US number?
Free temp-number websites list US numbers, but each one is shared with every visitor, so anyone can read your codes, and most apps block them. callmins doesn't offer free numbers: $2.00 a month buys one that's yours alone.
Can I rent a US number for a day or a week?
No. The shortest rental is one month, because the carrier charges for a full month either way. Press "Don't renew" on day one and you pay for that month only.
Will a temporary US number receive verification codes?
They don't receive WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal codes. For other apps it isn't confirmed yet. For WhatsApp, use a UK number.
What happens after I let the number go?
It stops receiving calls and texts when the paid month ends. The carrier can later give the number to someone else, so move any account that sends codes to it before you let it go.
